HP at Cannes Film Festival 2023

Ivory Worldwide

Client: HP Inc

Hewlett Packard has been an official partner of the Cannes Film Festival for several years. They aspire to become the most sustainable tech company by 2030.

In 2023, HP wanted to use their Cannes presence to explore five new sustainability initiatives in an appropriate and engaging way. Ivory was hired to create a VIP environment within the festival, HP Lounge, which would do this. We also needed to make sure the experience itself was definitively – and measurably – sustainable. We reimagined HP’s lounge as a walkthrough mixed-media gallery bringing to life the brand’s sustainability commitments. Exhibits included a green living wall symbolising HP’s support for the World Wildlife Fund’s Forest Positive initiative, and a striking sculpture by artist Steve McPherson that used plastic waste to represent HP’s use of ocean-bound plastic in its products. We also walked the walk at Cannes, rather than just talking the talk. Ivory holds Advanced Certification for ISO 20121:2012 Sustainable Events, which underscores our commitment to low-impact events and activations. From the planning stage onwards, we worked with HP and our suppliers to ensure sustainability was at the heart of creative and production. Everything we used in HP’s Cannes presence was reusable or recyclable. Nothing ended up in landfill. We found local partners to help us help the surrounding community, with wall coverings sent to a local charity and carpet donated to nearby social housing. The whole project was tracked using our BOSS sustainability management system, covering everything from materials to transport to waste.
